Knuckles the Echidna is an Rare unlockable character in Sonic Speed Simulator. Rival and friend of Sonic The Hedgehog, he is the last remaining echidna and sole Guardian of the Master Emerald upon Angel Island.[1]
Origins[]
Knuckles originates from the Sega Genesis game Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Appearance[]
Knuckles' appearance in Sonic Speed Simulator is based off of his modern design, which has been in use since around 2005. His most notable aspects are his red fur, purple eyes, his 7 long dreads which he uses to glide through the air, and the pair of spikes he has on each hand which give him his namesake.

Knuckles is unlocked by completing Knuckles' fifth quest in Emerald Hill Zone: "Dr. Eggman Awaits!", which has the player reach level 150 to complete it.
Legacy Sonic Speed Simulator[]
Knuckles was unlocked by collecting his Character Card in Emerald Hill. The card was located on the furthest rocky platform from spawn on the map, and required high speed and power to be able to complete the platforming required to reach it.

On April 22, 2022, the official Gamefam Studios Twitter Account posted a solid image of the color red, leading fans in the comments section to guess if the new playable character is either Knuckles or Shadow.[1] A few hours later, the official Gamefam Studios Twitter Account confirmed that the teased characters is indeed Knuckles the Echidna and that he will be released on April 23, 2022.[2]
Availability[]
Soon after, Knuckles was available to play in the game's testing server, where users can try out various new features before being released to the public, with one of them being Knuckles.[3] On April 23, 2022, Knuckles was finally released to the public.

- Knuckles was briefly available for purchase in Green Hill via Robux during v1.6.
- Knuckles received an idle animation during the Jewel Rush event.
